Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 May 2026

Lauds ("the app", "we") is built and operated by Brian Tan as an independent developer. This policy describes what data the app handles and what it does not.

Summary

Lauds is designed to keep the core app on your device. We do not have user accounts, ads, or cloud journal sync. Your journal entries, photos, settings, and app-usage decisions stay on your phone. Referral links and website waitlist signups use small server-side records so rewards, launch emails, and paid early-access purchases can be counted. The mobile apps may send limited anonymous product analytics so we can understand whether onboarding, paywall, and referral flows work.

What the app accesses on your device

What leaves your device

Payments

In-app subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play Billing or Apple's App Store, depending on your platform. Website iOS lifetime early-access purchases are processed by Stripe Checkout; Android lifetime purchases happen inside Google Play from the app. Lauds does not see or store your full payment details. Google Play's, Apple's, and Stripe's privacy policies govern those transactions. The app receives only the limited purchase or payment records needed to verify or reconcile your entitlement.

Permissions and platform controls

On Android, Lauds requests the Accessibility Service permission for one purpose: to detect when a locked app comes to the foreground so the Lauds shield can be shown. The service does not read screen content, capture keystrokes, or transmit any data. On iOS, Lauds uses Apple's Screen Time authorization for app selection and shielding. You may revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; the lock feature will then no longer function.

Children

Lauds is not directed at children under 13. It is intended for adults choosing to manage their own attention.

Your rights

Most Lauds data stays on your device. If you create a referral link or join the waitlist, you can ask us to delete the anonymous referral profile, server-side referral events, or waitlist record associated with it. Payment records may need to be retained where required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, or dispute handling. To remove local app data, uninstall Lauds or clear its data in Android Settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be published at this URL. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes or store listing.
