Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Prayer First mobile application ("the app") and related website waitlist or early-access flows. By installing or using Prayer First you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.
Who provides the app
Prayer First is provided by Brian Tan, an independent developer, contactable at radiansnail@gmail.com.
What the app does
Prayer First lets you choose apps to shield each local day and unlock them for the rest of that day only after completing one of: time spent in a Bible app, a physical-Bible reading timer, or a short journal entry. All users follow the same whole-day locking rule. Free access includes unlimited protected apps; Power Pack adds other power features. It also includes local journal, photo text, and search features. It is a personal attention tool. It is not a medical device, a counseling service, or a replacement for spiritual direction.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the apps you choose to lock and the unlock conditions you select, and for understanding that the lock follows the same whole-day rule each local day. Do not lock apps you may urgently need (for example, emergency or accessibility tools).
- You must comply with all platform permissions or authorizations you grant and may revoke them at any time. The lock feature depends on Screen Time authorization and will stop working if it is revoked.
- You will not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense the app outside the rights granted by the applicable store license.
Subscriptions and purchases
Prayer First offers or may offer subscriptions and one-time purchases through the app, processed by Google Play or Apple's App Store when available for your platform. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in the relevant platform store account. Paid app access lasts subject to platform store rules and technical availability. Offer terms may change for future purchasers; existing paid entitlements are not changed.
On-device AI and retired Cloud Assist
Cloud Assist has been retired. Its hosted endpoints no longer process journal text, OCR text, or topic context. Photo text extraction stays on-device. Power Pack uses on-device Apple Intelligence or Android ML Kit/Gemini Nano on supported devices to tidy notes and suggest smart topics without journal text or photos leaving the phone. Availability depends on device and operating-system support.
On-device intelligent outputs are drafts or suggestions. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, accepting, or discarding them where the app presents a review step. Prayer First does not promise that OCR, tidy-note cleanup, smart topic suggestions, or generated drafts will be complete, accurate, or appropriate for every situation. On-device intelligent features are not for spiritual direction, counseling, diagnosis, legal advice, financial advice, emergency use, or other high-stakes decisions.
Refunds
Platform store purchases are handled by Google Play or Apple under the relevant store's standard refund policy. For exceptional cases, you can also email us and we will do our best to help.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the lock will function on every device or OS version, and we do not guarantee that any specific app can or cannot be blocked. Local OCR, journal search, on-device AI, purchases, notifications, and remote configuration may be unavailable, delayed, or limited by platform rules, provider outages, quota limits, network conditions, or device settings.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any consequences of an app being locked, unlocked, or not behaving as expected. Our total liability for any direct claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue the app or specific features at any time. If the app is discontinued, paid subscriptions will stop renewing.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Singapore, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be published at this URL. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
