Block Instagram until Bible reading

For the morning reach that keeps becoming the morning scroll.

Direct answer

Prayer First can help you block Instagram in the morning until Bible reading comes first. During your chosen lock window, Instagram is held behind a shield until you open a supported Bible app, finish a physical Bible timer, or write a short journal line.

How it works

Instagram stays closed until the morning rule is complete.

Add Instagram

Choose Instagram as one of the apps Prayer First should hold during your morning lock window. You can add other apps too.

Meet the shield

When you try to open Instagram during the window, Prayer First steps in with a still page instead of the feed.

Read first

Unlock by opening a supported Bible app, completing a physical Bible timer, or writing a short journal line.

Who it is for

For people whose thumb finds Instagram before their day begins.

This page is for Christians who specifically want Instagram, Reels, or similar feeds to wait until Scripture has had the first word. Prayer First is built for personal morning discipline, not surveillance or punishment.

You can use it as a narrow Instagram rule or include TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, Snapchat, Threads, and other chosen apps in the same morning gate.

Limitations

Instagram can be held, but you still remain in control.

Prayer First does not claim an impossible-to-bypass Instagram block. You can disable permissions, edit the rule, shorten the window, or uninstall the app. Some Android devices require additional settings for reliable app shielding.

On iOS, Prayer First is in build and depends on Apple's Screen Time APIs rather than arbitrary foreground-app interception. Public iOS behavior also depends on Apple's entitlement approval.

Privacy & trust

The point is a morning gate, not a profile of your feed life.

No journal upload

Your journal entries and optional photos stay on your device during normal use. Optional Power Pack requests send only the selected text or photo after consent.

Android permissions

Android uses Accessibility Service and Usage Access so Prayer First can detect a chosen app and show the shield. It does not read screen content or capture keystrokes.

Payments

Purchases happen through Google Play or the App Store when in-app purchase is available for your platform. The website is for launch updates, not checkout.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can Prayer First block Reels too?

Prayer First is designed around chosen apps rather than individual in-app tabs. Holding Instagram can keep you away from Reels during the morning window, but Prayer First does not separately control every screen inside Instagram.

Does Bible reading have to be digital?

No. You can unlock through a supported Bible app, the physical Bible timer, or a short journal line.

Can I block more than Instagram?

Yes. You can add TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, Snapchat, Threads, or other apps you choose.

When can I use it?

Android has a published Google Play path. iOS has a published App Store path and follows Apple's Screen Time APIs, with full public behavior still shaped by entitlement approval.
