Make it fit a real class day
- Before the next class day, identify one feed you tend to open automatically. Protect that first.
- Leave the tools you need to attend class and reach people available. Test any app you cannot afford to lose access to.
- Choose a manageable Bible reading target, or use a paper Bible with the timer. A journal entry is another way to complete the habit.
- Try the routine before your first lecture. If your schedule changes, keep the practice small enough to repeat; the app does not know your academic timetable.
Spend your budget on what you actually need
The core habit and unlimited protected app selection are free, subject to platform limits. Optional Power Pack features are separate. You can continue using a supported Bible app you already have or your paper Bible; you do not need to buy a content library to start.
When comparing other apps, distinguish a free download, a free trial, and an ongoing free feature set. Check the renewal terms before starting a trial. A student routine should still work after the introductory offer ends.
A daily start is different from a study blocker
Prayer First is useful when Scripture keeps losing the first part of your day to scrolling. Once you complete the habit, selected apps can become available; it is not a promise that those apps will remain blocked through every lecture or study period.
If your problem is repeatedly opening social media during revision, look for scheduled sessions or per-app limits. ScreenZen’s current listing describes day-and-time configuration and app goals. Decide which boundary you need before installing two tools that may overlap.
Use a personal boundary, not a guarantee
Phone permissions and operating-system rules affect blocking. iPhone uses Screen Time shielding; Android uses Accessibility Service and Usage Access. Test your setup and keep essential communication available.
This is a personal routine tool. It does not promise better grades, supervise a student for a parent, or prove that someone read Scripture. Judge it by whether it helps you repeat the practice you chose.
